Our History

In March of 2004, two ladies, Drina Lee Edwards Carbonell and Myesha Manon Clayton, sought to bring a wonderfully outstanding organization to the campus of Georgia State University. After doing extensive research, the ladies came across Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. and chose to pursue bringing a new chapter to campus. They submitted their request for information and the journey began.

With the love and support they received from the members of the 2002-2004 National Board as well as the ladies of the already established Gamma Nu Chapter at Emory University, they knew LTA was the right choice for them. These ladies truly exemplified the principles of Unity, Love and Respect and aided them as they embarked on their quest.

In the fall of 2004, the Ladies were recognized by the National Board of Lambda Theta Alpha as an official Interest Group and immediately set to work. With only the two of them, they participated in several community service events and educational programs.

In the spring of 2005, the Ladies were very blessed in meeting Cynthia Padilla. Cynthia felt the same drive and passion for bringing LTA to Georgia State and immersed herself as a new member of the Interest Group. At the same time the Ladies were informed that, in recognition of their hard work and dedication, the time to become sisters had arrived. Along with the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Georgia Interest Groups, these three Ladies faced the uphill climb for sisterhood together. On April 10, 2005 Drina, Cynthia and Myesha became the Founding  Sisters of the Delta Beta Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated, helping build on the legacy thirty years after it was born.

In the spring of 2006, Delta Beta Chapter was accepted into the Multicultural Greek Council officially bringing this illustrious organization to Georgia State University.
